About Silent Magician

Ungraded, this printing ranks 242nd of the 564 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection II cards we track. The top card is Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon at €98.17.

Character and collecting appeal

Spellcasters have been popular since Dark Magician, and the Type has some of the most sought-after artwork in the game. In play, it is a card for negating cards and effects, Special Summoning and destroying cards. It cannot be Normal Summoned, so it has to be brought out by its own conditions.

Version and identification

Check the code printed below the artwork on the right: it should read RA02-EN012. RA02-EN012 is the English printing. Other languages use their own letters in place of EN, such as DE or FR, and are priced separately. It is the Ultra Rare version. Ultra Rares have a gold-foil name and holographic artwork. 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection II has 6 other printings of Silent Magician: RA02-EN012 Collector's Rare (€3.96), RA02-EN012 Platinum Secret Rare (€0.87), RA02-EN012 Quarter Century Secret Rare (€6.99), RA02-EN012 Secret Rare (€0.77), RA02-EN012 Super Rare (€0.90) and RA02-EN012 Ultimate Rare (€0.95). Each has its own price, so match the code, edition and rarity exactly.

Price history

PSA 10 copies have moved up 3% over the same 12 months. Of the 7 printings of Silent Magician we track, this one ranks 3rd by ungraded value. The most valuable is 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection II RA02-EN012 Quarter Century Secret Rare at €6.99.

Grading and population

A PSA 10 sells for 24.2× the ungraded price and 4.3× a PSA 9. That gap is small, so grading fees may outweigh the gain unless the card is for your own collection. Modern foils can leave the pack with scratches, print lines or a slight curl, so even fresh copies do not always reach a 10.

Investment potential

In its favour: steady demand, with ungraded prices up 23% in a year; an active market (25 recent completed sales), so it is easy to sell. Against it: large modern print runs, which tend to cap prices unless a card becomes iconic. Past prices do not guarantee future ones. This is not financial advice.

Before you buy

Expect to pay around €1.44 for a clean ungraded copy; played copies sell for less, and a PSA 9 costs about €8.02. Ask the seller to show the code RA02-EN012 and the Ultra Rare finish clearly in the photos, as listing titles often mix up printings. Modern foils can be scratched or curled straight from the pack, so check the surface under a light if you plan to grade.
