About Silent Magician
Silent Magician is an Effect Monster, printed as RA02-EN012 in 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection II (2024) as an Ultimate Rare. It is a Level 4 LIGHT Spellcaster monster with 1,000 ATK and 1,000 DEF. 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection II followed in 2024 with another list of tournament staples, again with every card in several rarities. Ungraded, this printing ranks 329th of the 564 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection II cards we track. The top card is Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon at €98.17.
Character and collecting appeal
Spellcasters have been popular since Dark Magician, and the Type has some of the most sought-after artwork in the game. In play, it is a card for negating cards and effects, Special Summoning and destroying cards. It cannot be Normal Summoned, so it has to be brought out by its own conditions.
Version and identification
Check the code printed below the artwork on the right: it should read RA02-EN012. RA02-EN012 is the English printing. Other languages use their own letters in place of EN, such as DE or FR, and are priced separately. It is the Ultimate Rare version. Ultimate Rares have embossed artwork, borders and card name. 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection II has 6 other printings of Silent Magician: RA02-EN012 Collector's Rare (€3.96), RA02-EN012 Platinum Secret Rare (€0.87), RA02-EN012 Quarter Century Secret Rare (€6.99), RA02-EN012 Secret Rare (€0.77), RA02-EN012 Super Rare (€0.90) and RA02-EN012 Ultra Rare (€1.44). Each has its own price, so match the code, edition and rarity exactly.
Price history
Today an ungraded copy of this printing sells for about €0.95, a PSA 9 for €7.13 and a PSA 10 for €62.42. Our monthly prices for it go back to June 2024. Over the last 12 months ungraded copies are down 55%, and up 32% in the last month. Its highest monthly ungraded value was €4.29 in June 2024, 78% above today. PSA 10 copies have moved sideways over the same 12 months. Of the 7 printings of Silent Magician we track, this one ranks 4th by ungraded value. The most valuable is 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection II RA02-EN012 Quarter Century Secret Rare at €6.99.
Grading and population
A PSA 10 sells for 65.7× the ungraded price and 8.8× a PSA 9. That gap is big enough that grading a sharp, well-centred copy can pay for itself. Even pack-fresh modern cards can have surface scratches or curling foil, so a 10 is never guaranteed.
Investment potential
In its favour: a price well below its June 2024 peak, which some collectors see as room to recover; an active market (26 recent completed sales), so it is easy to sell. Against it: falling prices, down 55% in a year; large modern print runs, which tend to cap prices unless a card becomes iconic. Past prices do not guarantee future ones. This is not financial advice.
Before you buy
Expect to pay around €0.95 for a clean ungraded copy; played copies sell for less, and a PSA 9 costs about €7.13. Ask the seller to show the code RA02-EN012 and the Ultimate Rare finish clearly in the photos, as listing titles often mix up printings. Modern foils can be scratched or curled straight from the pack, so check the surface under a light if you plan to grade.
