Character and collecting appeal

Cards named Red-Eyes belong to the family built around Joey Wheeler's Red-Eyes Black Dragon. Its text is about negating cards and effects, destroying cards and dealing damage. It has a Quick Effect, so it can also be used during the opponent's turn. Its Fusion Materials include Dark Magician and Red-Eyes Black Dragon.

Version and identification

Check the code printed below the artwork on the right: it should read RA02-EN021. RA02-EN021 is the English printing. Other languages use their own letters in place of EN, such as DE or FR, and are priced separately. This is a misprint, priced separately from correctly printed copies. Make sure the listing photos show the error. 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection II has 7 other printings of Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon: RA02-EN021 Collector's Rare (€5.26), RA02-EN021 Platinum Secret Rare (€8.13), RA02-EN021 Quarter Century Secret Rare (€22.27), RA02-EN021 Secret Rare (€3.97), RA02-EN021 Super Rare (€2.07) and RA02-EN021 Ultimate Rare (€5.13), and more. Each has its own price, so match the code, edition and rarity exactly.

The current price is its high point on our records. Of the 8 printings of Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon we track, this is the most valuable ungraded. The cheapest is 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection II RA02-EN021 Ultra Rare at €1.52.

Investment potential

In its favour: steady demand, with ungraded prices up 120% in a year. Against it: large modern print runs, which tend to cap prices unless a card becomes iconic; thin trading, so selling quickly can mean accepting a lower price. Treat this as background, not a prediction or financial advice.

Before you buy

Expect to pay around €98.08 for a clean ungraded copy; played copies sell for less. Ask the seller to show the code RA02-EN021 clearly in the photos, as listing titles often mix up printings. At this price fakes are worth checking for: genuine cards have a small holographic seal (the Eye of Anubis) in the bottom-right corner, and the font, colours and card back should match a copy you know is genuine. Look up the certificate number of any graded copy on the grading company's website. Modern foils can be scratched or curled straight from the pack, so check the surface under a light if you plan to grade.
