Version and identification

Check the code printed below the artwork on the right: it should read RA02-EN035. RA02-EN035 is the English printing. Other languages use their own letters in place of EN, such as DE or FR, and are priced separately. It is the Ultra Rare version. Ultra Rares have a gold-foil name and holographic artwork. 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection II has 6 other printings of The Phantom Knights of Break Sword: RA02-EN035 Collector's Rare (€1.35), RA02-EN035 Platinum Secret Rare (€0.44), RA02-EN035 Quarter Century Secret Rare (€5.31), RA02-EN035 Secret Rare (€0.18), RA02-EN035 Super Rare (€0.21) and RA02-EN035 Ultimate Rare (€0.21). Investment potential

In its favour: steady demand, with ungraded prices up 39% in a year. Against it: large modern print runs, which tend to cap prices unless a card becomes iconic. Card prices can fall as well as rise, so this is not financial advice.

Before you buy

Expect to pay around €1.10 for a clean ungraded copy; played copies sell for less. Ask the seller to show the code RA02-EN035 and the Ultra Rare finish clearly in the photos, as listing titles often mix up printings. Modern foils can be scratched or curled straight from the pack, so check the surface under a light if you plan to grade.
