Character and collecting appeal

Its effect centres on taking control of an opponent's monster and stopping attacks.

Version and identification

Check the code printed below the artwork on the right: it should read RA02-EN046. RA02-EN046 is the English printing. Other languages use their own letters in place of EN, such as DE or FR, and are priced separately. It is the Secret Rare version. Secret Rares have a rainbow-foil name and diagonal holographic artwork. 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection II has 6 other printings of Mind Control: RA02-EN046 Collector's Rare (€1.23), RA02-EN046 Platinum Secret Rare (€1.12), RA02-EN046 Quarter Century Secret Rare (€4.46), RA02-EN046 Super Rare (€0.22), RA02-EN046 Ultimate Rare (€0.32) and RA02-EN046 Ultra Rare (€0.97). Each has its own price, so match the code, edition and rarity exactly.

Price history

Over the last 12 months ungraded copies are down 57%, and up 32% in the last month. Its highest monthly ungraded value was €2.01 in May 2024, 76% above today. PSA 10 copies have moved down 8% over the same 12 months. Of the 7 printings of Mind Control we track, this one ranks 5th by ungraded value. The most valuable is 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection II RA02-EN046 Quarter Century Secret Rare at €4.46.

Grading and population

A PSA 10 sells for 63.3× the ungraded price and 4.3× a PSA 9. That gap is small, so grading fees may outweigh the gain unless the card is for your own collection. Modern foils can leave the pack with scratches, print lines or a slight curl, so even fresh copies do not always reach a 10.

Investment potential

In its favour: a price well below its May 2024 peak, which some collectors see as room to recover; an active market (25 recent completed sales), so it is easy to sell. Against it: falling prices, down 57% in a year; large modern print runs, which tend to cap prices unless a card becomes iconic. Treat this as background, not a prediction or financial advice.

Before you buy

Expect to pay around €0.49 for a clean ungraded copy; played copies sell for less, and a PSA 9 costs about €7.13. Ask the seller to show the code RA02-EN046 and the Secret Rare finish clearly in the photos, as listing titles often mix up printings. Modern foils can be scratched or curled straight from the pack, so check the surface under a light if you plan to grade.
