Character and collecting appeal

Spellcasters have been popular since Dark Magician, and the Type has some of the most sought-after artwork in the game. Its text is about negating cards and effects, searching the Deck and Special Summoning. Its once-per-turn limits are typical of modern card design.

Version and identification

Check the code printed below the artwork on the right: it should read MAMO-EN014. MAMO-EN014 is the English printing. Other languages use their own letters in place of EN, such as DE or FR, and are priced separately. This is the Extended Art version, where the artwork runs past the usual frame. Magnificent Monsters has 3 other printings of Horoscope Sorcerer, the Stargazer Magician: MAMO-EN014 (€1.36), MAMO-EN014 Extended Art Grand Master Rare and MAMO-EN014 Extended Art Starlight Rare (€156.46). Each has its own price, so match the code, edition and rarity exactly.

Grading and population

A PSA 10 sells for 9.1× the ungraded price and 1.8× a PSA 9. That gap is big enough that grading a sharp, well-centred copy can pay for itself. Even pack-fresh modern cards can have surface scratches or curling foil, so a 10 is never guaranteed.

Investment potential

In its favour: an active market (25 recent completed sales), so it is easy to sell. Against it: large modern print runs, which tend to cap prices unless a card becomes iconic. Past prices do not guarantee future ones. This is not financial advice.

Before you buy

Expect to pay around €12.68 for a clean ungraded copy; played copies sell for less, and a PSA 9 costs about €62.92. Ask the seller to show the code MAMO-EN014 clearly in the photos, as listing titles often mix up printings. Modern foils can be scratched or curled straight from the pack, so check the surface under a light if you plan to grade.
