Character and collecting appeal

Gagaga cards come from Yuma Tsukumo's deck in Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL. Its text is about Special Summoning. Its once-per-turn limits are typical of modern card design.

Version and identification

Check the code printed below the artwork on the right: it should read MAMO-EN012. MAMO-EN012 is the English printing. Other languages use their own letters in place of EN, such as DE or FR, and are priced separately. It is the Grand Master Rare version. Grand Master Rares are one of the newest and scarcest rarities in the game. This is the Extended Art version, where the artwork runs past the usual frame. Magnificent Monsters has 3 other printings of Gagaga Girl - Cell Phone Subtraction: MAMO-EN012 (€1.44), MAMO-EN012 Extended Art (€25.18) and MAMO-EN012 Extended Art Starlight Rare (€156.18). Each has its own price, so match the code, edition and rarity exactly.

Investment potential

Against it: large modern print runs, which tend to cap prices unless a card becomes iconic; thin trading, so selling quickly can mean accepting a lower price. Past prices do not guarantee future ones. This is not financial advice.

Before you buy

Expect to pay around €9,184 for a clean ungraded copy; played copies sell for less. Ask the seller to show the code MAMO-EN012 and the Grand Master Rare finish clearly in the photos, as listing titles often mix up printings. At this price fakes are worth checking for: genuine cards have a small holographic seal (the Eye of Anubis) in the bottom-right corner, and the font, colours and card back should match a copy you know is genuine. Look up the certificate number of any graded copy on the grading company's website. Modern foils can be scratched or curled straight from the pack, so check the surface under a light if you plan to grade.
