Doma The Angel of Silence [Sample Card] #SDY-015

Doma The Angel of Silence [Sample Card] #SDY-015 collector guide

About Doma The Angel of Silence

Doma The Angel of Silence is a Normal Monster, with flavour text instead of an effect, printed as SDY-015 in Starter Deck: Yugi (2002) as a Common. It is a Level 5 DARK Fairy monster with 1,600 ATK and 1,400 DEF. At its Level it needs one Tribute to Normal Summon. Its ATK is the 7th highest of the 29 monsters in the set. Starter Deck: Yugi was one of the two pre-built decks that launched the English game in 2002, built around the cards Yugi Muto plays in the anime, with Dark Magician at its centre. Ungraded, this printing ranks 2nd of the 162 Starter Deck: Yugi cards we track, one of the chase cards of the set. The top card is Castle Walls at €356.09.

Character and collecting appeal

Fairies are known for their light, angelic artwork and for cards that protect Life Points. With no effect, its appeal is its artwork, its stats and its place in Starter Deck: Yugi.

Version and identification

This guide covers the Unlimited printing, without the "1st Edition" text below the artwork. 1st Edition copies of the same card have their own, usually higher, prices. Check the code printed below the artwork on the right: it should read SDY-015. The code SDY-015, without a language letter, marks the original North American printing. European English copies have an E in the code, such as SDY-E015, and are priced separately. It is the Common version. Commons have a plain name and no foil. Starter Deck: Yugi has 4 other printings of Doma The Angel of Silence: SDY-015 (€0.22), SDY-015 1st Edition (€2.85), SDY-E013 (€1.81) and SDY-E013 1st Edition. Each has its own price, so match the code, edition and rarity exactly. It was also printed in Metal Raiders, which we track separately.

Price history

Today an ungraded copy of this printing sells for about €355.77. Our monthly prices for it go back to January 2023. Over the last 12 months ungraded copies are unchanged, and flat in the last month. It is trading at or near its highest recorded value. Of the 8 printings of Doma The Angel of Silence we track, this is the most valuable ungraded. The cheapest is Metal Raiders MRD-015 at €0.16. Unusually, Unlimited copies currently sell for as much as or more than 1st Edition ones (€355.77 against €2.85).

Investment potential

In its favour: it comes from the first years of the English game, which are no longer printed; it is the original printing, which reprints rarely replace for collectors. Against it: thin trading, so selling quickly can mean accepting a lower price. Past prices do not guarantee future ones. This is not financial advice.

Before you buy

Expect to pay around €355.77 for a clean ungraded copy; played copies sell for less. Ask the seller to show the code SDY-015, the missing "1st Edition" text and the Common finish clearly in the photos, as listing titles often mix up printings. At this price fakes are worth checking for: genuine cards have a small holographic seal (the Eye of Anubis) in the bottom-right corner, and the font, colours and card back should match a copy you know is genuine. Look up the certificate number of any graded copy on the grading company's website. Cards from 2002 often show white wear on the back edges and corners, so ask for photos of the back before you buy.
