Character and collecting appeal

Warriors are one of the oldest and largest Types, and have had support in almost every era of the game. Its effect centres on Special Summoning.

Version and identification

Check the code printed below the artwork on the right: it should read RA03-EN118. RA03-EN118 is the English printing. Other languages use their own letters in place of EN, such as DE or FR, and are priced separately. It is the Platinum Secret Rare version. Platinum Secret Rares are a newer Secret Rare variant with a platinum-coloured finish. Quarter Century Bonanza has one other printing of Marauding Captain: RA03-EN118 Quarter Century Secret Rare (€4.77). Each has its own price, so match the code, edition and rarity exactly. It was also printed in Legacy of Darkness, which we track separately.

Price history

Today an ungraded copy of this printing sells for about €2.54, a PSA 9 for €11.04 and a PSA 10 for €39.63. Our monthly prices for it go back to November 2024. Over the last 12 months ungraded copies are up 37%, and up 14% in the last month. The current price is its high point on our records. PSA 10 copies have moved down 5% over the same 12 months. Of the 5 printings of Marauding Captain we track, this one ranks 5th by ungraded value. The most valuable is Legacy of Darkness LOD-018 Misprint at €24.55.

Grading and population

A PSA 10 sells for 15.6× the ungraded price and 3.6× a PSA 9. That gap is small, so grading fees may outweigh the gain unless the card is for your own collection. Modern foils can leave the pack with scratches, print lines or a slight curl, so even fresh copies do not always reach a 10.

Investment potential

In its favour: steady demand, with ungraded prices up 37% in a year; an active market (26 recent completed sales), so it is easy to sell. Against it: large modern print runs, which tend to cap prices unless a card becomes iconic; reprints in another set, which keep playable copies easy to find. Treat this as background, not a prediction or financial advice.

Before you buy

Expect to pay around €2.54 for a clean ungraded copy; played copies sell for less, and a PSA 9 costs about €11.04. Ask the seller to show the code RA03-EN118 and the Platinum Secret Rare finish clearly in the photos, as listing titles often mix up printings. Modern foils can be scratched or curled straight from the pack, so check the surface under a light if you plan to grade.
