About Jowgen the Spiritualist

Jowgen the Spiritualist is an Effect Monster, printed as LON-E061 in Labyrinth of Nightmare (2003) as a Rare. It is a Level 3 LIGHT Spellcaster monster with 200 ATK and 1,300 DEF. Labyrinth of Nightmare arrived in early 2003 and is best remembered for Torrential Tribute, Magic Cylinder, Gemini Elf and Dark Necrofear.

Character and collecting appeal

Spellcasters have been popular since Dark Magician, and the Type has some of the most sought-after artwork in the game. Its text is about clearing the field, Special Summoning and discarding.

Version and identification

This guide covers the Unlimited printing, without the "1st Edition" text below the artwork. 1st Edition copies of the same card have their own, usually higher, prices. Check the code printed below the artwork on the right: it should read LON-E061. The E in LON-E061 marks the European English printing. The North American printing uses a code without the letter, sometimes with a different card number, and has its own prices. It is the Rare version. Rares have a silver-foil name and plain artwork. Labyrinth of Nightmare has 4 other printings of Jowgen the Spiritualist: LON-061 (€1.65), LON-061 1st Edition (€4.23), LON-E061 1st Edition (€3.51) and LON-EN061. Each has its own price, so match the code, edition and rarity exactly.

Price history

There are no recent sales of this printing of Jowgen the Spiritualist yet, so we cannot give it a value.

Investment potential

In its favour: it comes from the first years of the English game, which are no longer printed. Card prices can fall as well as rise, so this is not financial advice.

Before you buy

Ask the seller to show the code LON-E061, the missing "1st Edition" text and the Rare finish clearly in the photos, as listing titles often mix up printings. Cards from 2003 often show white wear on the back edges and corners, so ask for photos of the back before you buy.
