Pre-grade your card before you pay to grade it
Scan the front and back of a raw card with your camera. We measure the centering, inspect every corner, edge and the surface, score each one out of 10, then predict the grade it would get at each grading company and what's holding it back.
Start a scan
- Take it out of the sleeve and lay it flat on a dark, plain surface.
- Bright, even light, no reflections across the card.
- Phone straight above the card so it fills the outline.
- Front, then back. The back often decides the grade.
Your photos are only used to inspect the card and aren't stored.
What the scanner checks
Centering
Measured from your photo: the width of each border, left against right and top against bottom, front and back. Shown as a ratio such as 55/45, the way graders measure it.
Corners
All four corners on each side, close up: whitening, fraying, softness, rounding and dings.
Edges
Each side of the card for whitening, chipping, nicks and roughness. Back edges usually show wear first.
Surface
Scratches, scuffs, print lines, holo scratches, dents, creases, stains and loss of gloss.

Questions about card grading
How accurate is the pre-grade scanner?
Centering is measured from the photo and is usually within a few percent of what a grader measures, if the card is flat and square to the camera. Corners, edges and surface are inspected by AI from the photo and catch most visible wear, but a grader works in hand with a loupe and angled light, so small scratches or dents can be missed. Treat the result as a guide to whether a card is worth submitting, not a guaranteed grade.
Why are the predicted grades different for each company?
Each company has its own standards. PSA gives one grade with no subgrades and allows 55/45 front centering for a 10. Beckett (BGS) and CGC grade four subgrades and need near-perfect 50/50 centering for a Pristine 10. SGC, TAG and ACE have their own tolerances. The scanner applies each company's published rules to the same measurements.
How do I get the best scan?
Take the card out of its sleeve or top loader, lay it flat on a dark plain surface, and use bright, even light without reflections. Hold the phone straight above the card so it fills the outline. Scan the back too: back centering and back edges often limit the grade.
Are my photos stored?
No. Your photos are only used to inspect the card and aren't saved by Search Cards.
