Dragoness the Wicked Knight [1st Edition] #MRL-E126

Dragoness the Wicked Knight [1st Edition] #MRL-E126 collector guide

About Dragoness the Wicked Knight

Dragoness the Wicked Knight is a Fusion Monster, made from its Fusion Materials with a card such as Polymerization, printed as MRL-E126 in Magic Ruler (2002) as a Rare. It is a Level 3 WIND Warrior monster with 1,200 ATK and 900 DEF. Magic Ruler was the third English booster set and brought Pegasus's Toon cards into the game. Magic Cards were later renamed Spell Cards and the set was reprinted as Spell Ruler, so Magic Ruler copies are the original printing. Ungraded, this printing ranks 55th of the 321 Magic Ruler cards we track. The top card is Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon at €223.11.

Character and collecting appeal

Warriors are one of the oldest and largest Types, and have had support in almost every era of the game. Its Fusion Materials include Armaill and One-Eyed Shield Dragon.

Version and identification

This guide covers the 1st Edition printing. The words "1st Edition" are printed below the artwork on the left; copies without them are the Unlimited printing and usually sell for less. Check the code printed below the artwork on the right: it should read MRL-E126. The E in MRL-E126 marks the European English printing. The North American printing uses a code without the letter, sometimes with a different card number, and has its own prices. It is the Rare version. Rares have a silver-foil name and plain artwork. It was also printed in Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon, which we track separately.

Investment potential

In its favour: steady demand, with ungraded prices up 10% in a year; it comes from the 1st Edition run of an early English set, which will never be printed again. Against it: reprints in another set, which keep playable copies easy to find. Past prices do not guarantee future ones. This is not financial advice.

Before you buy

Expect to pay around €6.23 for a clean ungraded copy; played copies sell for less. Ask the seller to show the code MRL-E126, the "1st Edition" text and the Rare finish clearly in the photos, as listing titles often mix up printings. Cards from 2002 often show white wear on the back edges and corners, so ask for photos of the back before you buy.
