About Exiled Force

Exiled Force is an Effect Monster, printed as LOD-023 in Legacy of Darkness (2003) as a Super Rare. It is a Level 4 EARTH Warrior monster with 1,000 ATK and 1,000 DEF. Legacy of Darkness was a smaller 2003 set with a wave of Spirit monsters, including Yata-Garasu, alongside Injection Fairy Lily and Airknight Parshath. Ungraded, this printing ranks 48th of the 206 Legacy of Darkness cards we track. The top card is Yata-Garasu at €78.25.

Character and collecting appeal

Warriors are one of the oldest and largest Types, and have had support in almost every era of the game. Its effect centres on destroying cards.

Version and identification

This guide covers the Unlimited printing, without the "1st Edition" text below the artwork. 1st Edition copies of the same card have their own, usually higher, prices. Check the code printed below the artwork on the right: it should read LOD-023. The code LOD-023, without a language letter, marks the original North American printing. European English copies have an E in the code, such as LOD-E023, and are priced separately. It is the Super Rare version. Super Rares have holographic artwork and a plain name. Legacy of Darkness has one other printing of Exiled Force: LOD-023 1st Edition (€8.59). Each has its own price, so match the code, edition and rarity exactly. It was also printed in Quarter Century Bonanza, which we track separately.

Price history

Today an ungraded copy of this printing sells for about €2.99, a PSA 9 for €13.37 and a PSA 10 for €144.90. Our monthly prices for it go back to October 2021. Over the last 12 months ungraded copies are down 29%, and down 16% in the last month. Its highest monthly ungraded value was €8.91 in October 2021, 66% above today. PSA 10 copies have moved sideways over the same 12 months. Of the 4 printings of Exiled Force we track, this one ranks 3rd by ungraded value. The most valuable is Quarter Century Bonanza RA03-EN119 Quarter Century Secret Rare at €9.57. 1st Edition copies sell for about 2.9× the Unlimited printing (€8.59 against €2.99).

Grading and population

A PSA 10 sells for 48.5× the ungraded price and 10.8× a PSA 9. That gap is big enough that grading a sharp, well-centred copy can pay for itself. Early English Yu-Gi-Oh! cards often have off-centre cuts and wear on the dark brown back borders, which is why high grades are hard to reach.

Investment potential

In its favour: a price well below its October 2021 peak, which some collectors see as room to recover; it comes from the first years of the English game, which are no longer printed; it is the original printing, which reprints rarely replace for collectors; an active market (41 recent completed sales), so it is easy to sell. Against it: falling prices, down 29% in a year. Treat this as background, not a prediction or financial advice.

Before you buy

Expect to pay around €2.99 for a clean ungraded copy; played copies sell for less, and a PSA 9 costs about €13.37. Ask the seller to show the code LOD-023, the missing "1st Edition" text and the Super Rare finish clearly in the photos, as listing titles often mix up printings. Cards from 2003 often show white wear on the back edges and corners, so ask for photos of the back before you buy.
