Amphibian Beast #LON-EN008 collector guide

About Amphibian Beast

Amphibian Beast is a Normal Monster, with flavour text instead of an effect, printed as LON-EN008 in Labyrinth of Nightmare (2003) as a Rare. It is a Level 6 WATER Fish monster with 2,400 ATK and 2,000 DEF. At its Level it needs one Tribute to Normal Summon. Its ATK is the 3rd highest of the 57 monsters in the set. Labyrinth of Nightmare arrived in early 2003 and is best remembered for Torrential Tribute, Magic Cylinder, Gemini Elf and Dark Necrofear. Ungraded, this printing ranks 172nd of the 331 Labyrinth of Nightmare cards we track. The top card is Torrential Tribute at €92.89.

Character and collecting appeal

Fish monsters are a small Type that often works with water Field Spells. With no effect, its appeal is its artwork, its stats and its place in Labyrinth of Nightmare.

Version and identification

Check the code printed below the artwork on the right: it should read LON-EN008. The EN in LON-EN008 marks a later English printing, made after Konami moved every English card to EN codes. Copies with the original LON-008 code are a different printing. It is the Rare version. Rares have a silver-foil name and plain artwork. Labyrinth of Nightmare has 4 other printings of Amphibian Beast: LON-008 (€1.19), LON-008 1st Edition (€2.28), LON-E008 (€1.94) and LON-E008 1st Edition (€3.12). Each has its own price, so match the code, edition and rarity exactly.

Price history

Today an ungraded copy of this printing sells for about €1.77, a PSA 9 for €8.82 and a PSA 10 for €98.62. Our monthly prices for it go back to September 2026. The current price is its high point on our records. Of the 5 printings of Amphibian Beast we track, this one ranks 4th by ungraded value. The most valuable is Labyrinth of Nightmare LON-E008 1st Edition at €3.12.

Grading and population

A PSA 10 sells for 55.7× the ungraded price and 11.2× a PSA 9. That gap is big enough that grading a sharp, well-centred copy can pay for itself. Early English Yu-Gi-Oh! cards often have off-centre cuts and wear on the dark brown back borders, which is why high grades are hard to reach.

Investment potential

In its favour: it comes from the first years of the English game, which are no longer printed. Against it: thin trading, so selling quickly can mean accepting a lower price. Past prices do not guarantee future ones. This is not financial advice.

Before you buy

Expect to pay around €1.77 for a clean ungraded copy; played copies sell for less, and a PSA 9 costs about €8.82. Ask the seller to show the code LON-EN008 and the Rare finish clearly in the photos, as listing titles often mix up printings. Cards from 2003 often show white wear on the back edges and corners, so ask for photos of the back before you buy.
