Character and collecting appeal

Change of Heart takes control of an opponent's monster for a turn. It was strong enough to spend years on the Forbidden list. In play, it is a card for taking control of an opponent's monster.

Version and identification

Check the code printed below the artwork on the right: it should read RA01-EN050. RA01-EN050 is the English printing. Other languages use their own letters in place of EN, such as DE or FR, and are priced separately. It is the Secret Rare version. Secret Rares have a rainbow-foil name and diagonal holographic artwork. 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection has 6 other printings of Change of Heart: RA01-EN050 Collector's Rare (€5.19), RA01-EN050 Platinum Secret Rare (€3.14), RA01-EN050 Quarter Century Secret Rare (€9.97), RA01-EN050 Super Rare (€1.49), RA01-EN050 Ultimate Rare (€3.22) and RA01-EN050 Ultra Rare (€1.57). Each has its own price, so match the code, edition and rarity exactly. It was also printed in Starter Deck: Yugi and Metal Raiders, which we track separately.

Grading and population

A PSA 10 sells for 26.6× the ungraded price and 4.4× a PSA 9. That gap is small, so grading fees may outweigh the gain unless the card is for your own collection. Modern foils can leave the pack with scratches, print lines or a slight curl, so even fresh copies do not always reach a 10.

Investment potential

In its favour: a price well below its August 2025 peak, which some collectors see as room to recover; lasting fame from the anime or the competitive game; an active market (25 recent completed sales), so it is easy to sell. Against it: falling prices, down 59% in a year; large modern print runs, which tend to cap prices unless a card becomes iconic; reprints in 2 other sets, which keep playable copies easy to find. Card prices can fall as well as rise, so this is not financial advice.

Before you buy

Expect to pay around €1.19 for a clean ungraded copy; played copies sell for less, and a PSA 9 costs about €7.13. Ask the seller to show the code RA01-EN050 and the Secret Rare finish clearly in the photos, as listing titles often mix up printings. Modern foils can be scratched or curled straight from the pack, so check the surface under a light if you plan to grade.
