Vivid Voltage Booster Box guide

What's inside the Vivid Voltage Booster Box

A sealed Vivid Voltage Booster Box holds 36 sealed booster packs from Vivid Voltage, the full display a shop would open to sell packs one by one.

About Vivid Voltage

Introduced Amazing Rares and the giant Pikachu VMAX. Released on 13 November 2020, it belongs to the Sword & Shield era, when the collecting boom pushed print runs to record levels. It came out 6 years ago, so most sealed stock has been opened and what is left sits with collectors.

Vivid Voltage has 185 cards in its main numbering, plus 18 secret rares numbered beyond it.

Chase cards to look for

The Vivid Voltage cards collectors most want to pull are Pikachu VMAX and Pikachu V. With 36 packs, a box gives you the most chances at them of any sealed product, though no box is guaranteed to hold any one card.

Our catalogue lists the set's rarest tiers as 18 Secret Rares, 6 Amazing Rares and 20 Ultra Rares. Prices for every card are on the Vivid Voltage set page.

Price per pack

At the typical price, each of the 36 packs in a Vivid Voltage Booster Box works out at €10.75, compared with €25.76 in a Vivid Voltage Elite Trainer Box and €28.16 in a Vivid Voltage Booster Pack. That makes it the cheapest way to buy Vivid Voltage packs sealed right now.

Is the Vivid Voltage Booster Box a good investment?

Older sealed product tends to rise as boxes are opened and supply shrinks, and Vivid Voltage is now 6 years past release. Its price still depends on demand for its chase cards and on any reprints. Booster boxes are the sealed product most collectors hold long term, as they are easy to store and to value. Watch the price of Pikachu VMAX, the set's headline card, since sealed Vivid Voltage tends to move with it.

Past prices do not guarantee future ones, and this is not financial advice. Read should you buy sealed Pokémon products? for the pros and cons.

Before you buy

Look closely at the wrapping in the photos. Factory wrap on booster boxes has neat seams, often with Pokémon logos printed on it; baggy, shiny or uneven wrap is a common sign of a reseal. For a Vivid Voltage Booster Box at around €387.12, ask the seller for photos of all sides and stick to accounts with plenty of positive feedback. A full box gives better odds than loose packs, and its value as a sealed item is easier to judge (how to value a sealed booster box). Check whether delivery from ebay.co.uk adds import fees, and store sealed product flat, out of sunlight and away from damp.
