Lost Origin Booster Box guide

What's inside the Lost Origin Booster Box

A sealed Lost Origin Booster Box holds 36 sealed booster packs from Lost Origin, the full display a shop would open to sell packs one by one.

About Lost Origin

Built around the Lost Zone, with the alternate art Giratina V as its chase card. Released on 9 September 2022, it belongs to the Sword & Shield era, when the collecting boom pushed print runs to record levels. It is past its main print window, so sealed stock is getting harder to find at retail.

Lost Origin has 196 cards in its main numbering, plus 21 secret rares numbered beyond it, and a 30-card Lost Origin Trainer Gallery subset.

The cards a Lost Origin Booster Box can hold

The Lost Origin cards collectors most want to pull are Giratina V and Giratina VSTAR. With 36 packs, a box gives you the most chances at them of any sealed product, though no box is guaranteed to hold any one card.

Our catalogue lists the set's rarest tiers as 23 Secret Rares, 3 Radiant Rares and 42 Ultra Rares. Prices for every card are on the Lost Origin set page.

These are live asking prices, not completed sales, so a good offer is usually close to the cheapest listing rather than the typical one.

Price per pack

At the typical price, each of the 36 packs in a Lost Origin Booster Box works out at €23.41, compared with €30.85 in a Lost Origin Elite Trainer Box, €37.53 in a Lost Origin Booster Bundle and €42.26 in a Lost Origin Booster Pack. That makes it the cheapest way to buy Lost Origin packs sealed right now.

Is the Lost Origin Booster Box a good investment?

Lost Origin is out of its main print run, the stage where sealed prices often start to move, but modern sets are printed in large numbers and can be reprinted. Booster boxes are the sealed product most collectors hold long term, as they are easy to store and to value. Watch the price of Giratina V, the set's headline card, since sealed Lost Origin tends to move with it.

Only buy a Lost Origin Booster Box to hold if you are happy to keep it either way, as prices can fall too. This is not financial advice; see should you buy sealed Pokémon products?

Before you buy

Look closely at the wrapping in the photos. Factory wrap on booster boxes has neat seams, often with Pokémon logos printed on it; baggy, shiny or uneven wrap is a common sign of a reseal. For a Lost Origin Booster Box at around €842.80, ask the seller for photos of all sides and stick to accounts with plenty of positive feedback. A full box gives better odds than loose packs, and its value as a sealed item is easier to judge (how to value a sealed booster box). Always compare totals with delivery included, and keep sealed product away from sunlight, heat and damp once it arrives.
