About Darkness Ablaze
The set with the first Charizard VMAX, which helped drive the 2020 collecting boom. Released on 14 August 2020, it belongs to the Sword & Shield era, when the collecting boom pushed print runs to record levels. It came out 6 years ago, so most sealed stock has been opened and what is left sits with collectors.
Darkness Ablaze has 189 cards in its main numbering, plus 12 secret rares numbered beyond it.
What collectors open Darkness Ablaze for
The Darkness Ablaze cards collectors most want to pull are Charizard VMAX and Charizard V. Any one pack can hold them, but most packs will not: buying the single card is usually cheaper than opening for it.
Our catalogue lists the set's rarest tiers as 12 Secret Rares, 13 Ultra Rares and 7 VMAX. Prices for every card are on the Darkness Ablaze set page.

Price per pack
At the typical price, a Darkness Ablaze Booster Pack costs €30.66, compared with €11.64 in a Darkness Ablaze Booster Box and €20.25 in a Darkness Ablaze Elite Trainer Box. That makes it the most expensive way to buy Darkness Ablaze packs right now, which is normal for single packs.
Is the Darkness Ablaze Booster Pack a good investment?
Older sealed product tends to rise as boxes are opened and supply shrinks, and Darkness Ablaze is now 6 years past release. Its price still depends on demand for its chase cards and on any reprints. Single packs are the easiest to resell but also the most likely to have been searched or weighed. Watch the price of Charizard VMAX, the set's headline card, since sealed Darkness Ablaze tends to move with it.
Past prices do not guarantee future ones, and this is not financial advice. Read should you buy sealed Pokémon products? for the pros and cons.
Before you buy
Look closely at the wrapping in the photos. Factory wrap on packs is tight and crimped evenly at both ends; baggy, shiny or uneven wrap is a common sign of a reseal. Avoid "weighed" or searched packs from bulk sellers: some sellers weigh packs to pull the holos out first. Check whether delivery from ebay.de adds import fees, and store sealed product flat, out of sunlight and away from damp.
