Chilling Reign Booster Box guide

What's inside the Chilling Reign Booster Box

Each Chilling Reign Booster Box is a factory-sealed display of 36 sealed booster packs, every one of them from Chilling Reign.

About Chilling Reign

Brought the Galarian legendary birds and Calyrex, with sought-after alternate art cards. Released on 18 June 2021, it belongs to the Sword & Shield era, when the collecting boom pushed print runs to record levels. 5 years on, most of its sealed stock has long been opened, and unopened product mostly changes hands between collectors.

Chilling Reign has 198 cards in its main numbering, plus 35 secret rares numbered beyond it.

What collectors open Chilling Reign for

The Chilling Reign cards collectors most want to pull are Galarian Moltres V, Blaziken VMAX and Ice Rider Calyrex VMAX. With 36 packs, a box gives you the most chances at them of any sealed product, though no box is guaranteed to hold any one card.

Our catalogue lists the set's rarest tiers as 35 Secret Rares, 39 Ultra Rares and 8 VMAX. See every Chilling Reign card price for what each is worth.

Asking prices are what sellers hope to get, not what booster boxes actually sell for, so treat the cheapest listing as the benchmark for a fair deal.

Price per pack

At the typical price, each of the 36 packs in a Chilling Reign Booster Box works out at €15.85, compared with €25.94 in a Chilling Reign Elite Trainer Box and €32.82 in a Chilling Reign Booster Pack. That makes it the cheapest way to buy Chilling Reign packs sealed right now.

Chilling Reign Booster Box as an investment

Older sealed product tends to rise as boxes are opened and supply shrinks, and Chilling Reign is now 5 years past release. Its price still depends on demand for its chase cards and on any reprints. Booster boxes are the sealed product most collectors hold long term, as they are easy to store and to value. Much of its sealed value rests on demand for Galarian Moltres V and Blaziken VMAX: if those cards rise, unopened product usually follows.

Past prices do not guarantee future ones, and this is not financial advice. Read should you buy sealed Pokémon products? for the pros and cons.

Before you buy

Check the shrink wrap: factory wrap on booster boxes has neat seams, often with Pokémon logos printed on it, and loose or glossy wrap can mean a resealed product. At €570.49 it is worth asking for photos of every side and buying from sellers with a long, positive history, since resealed and weighed product is common. A full box gives better odds than loose packs, and its value as a sealed item is easier to judge (how to value a sealed booster box). Check whether delivery from ebay.com adds import fees, and store sealed product flat, out of sunlight and away from damp.
