What's inside the Brilliant Stars Elite Trainer Box

Inside a sealed Brilliant Stars Elite Trainer Box you get 8 booster packs plus card sleeves, energy cards, dice, condition markers and a storage box. The packs are all Brilliant Stars.

Pokémon Center exclusive ETBs come with extra packs and a stamped promo and sell for more, so they are left out of the prices here.

About Brilliant Stars

Introduced Pokémon VSTAR and the Trainer Gallery, with Charizard VSTAR and an alternate art Charizard V. Released on 25 February 2022, it belongs to the Sword & Shield era, when the collecting boom pushed print runs to record levels. Shops have mostly moved on to newer sets, so sealed stock now comes mainly from resellers.

Brilliant Stars has 172 cards in its main numbering, plus 14 secret rares numbered beyond it, and a 30-card Brilliant Stars Trainer Gallery subset.

What collectors open Brilliant Stars for

The Brilliant Stars cards collectors most want to pull are Charizard V, Charizard VSTAR and Arceus VSTAR. 8 packs is a modest number of tries, so most ETBs are bought to collect or keep sealed rather than to chase one card.

Our catalogue lists the set's rarest tiers as 16 Secret Rares, 37 Ultra Rares and 3 VMAX. See every Brilliant Stars card price for what each is worth.

Brilliant Stars Elite Trainer Box as an investment

Brilliant Stars is out of its main print run, the stage where sealed prices often start to move, but modern sets are printed in large numbers and can be reprinted. ETBs are popular to keep sealed because of their box art, but they take more space than they hold in packs. Much of its sealed value rests on demand for Charizard V and Charizard VSTAR: if those cards rise, unopened product usually follows.

Past prices do not guarantee future ones, and this is not financial advice. Read should you buy sealed Pokémon products? for the pros and cons.

Before you buy

Check the shrink wrap: factory wrap on elite trainer boxes has neat seams, often with Pokémon logos printed on it, and loose or glossy wrap can mean a resealed product. At €197.16 it is worth asking for photos of every side and buying from sellers with a long, positive history, since resealed and weighed product is common. Check the listing photos show the ETB itself and not only the packs, and that it is the standard version rather than a Pokémon Center one if you are comparing prices. Check whether delivery from ebay.com adds import fees, and store sealed product flat, out of sunlight and away from damp.
