About Arceus [1st Edition] #60

Arceus (1st Edition) is card #60 from Japanese Advent of Arceus, a Japanese-language release, released on July 8, 2009. That places it in the EX, Diamond & Pearl and HeartGold SoulSilver years (2003–2010), a period with much smaller print runs than today. Ungraded, it ranks 18th of the 148 Japanese Advent of Arceus cards we track. The top card is Booster Pack at €563.50.

Character and collecting appeal

Arceus can be approached as a character collectible and as an entry in its named release. For set builders, the exact card number matters; for character collectors, it helps distinguish this version from other appearances of the same Pokémon.

Version and identification

This guide covers the 1st Edition printing, identified by the "1st Edition" mark printed on the card. Other printings of Arceus [1st Edition] #60 in Japanese Advent of Arceus are priced separately, so match the version exactly before comparing prices and check the printed number reads #60.

Price history

Today an ungraded Arceus [1st Edition] #60 sells for about €32.52, a PSA 9 for €115.77 and a PSA 10 for €708.21. We have monthly prices for this card going back to June 2022. Over the last 12 months ungraded copies are up 52%, and flat in the last month. The current price is its all-time high on our records. PSA 10 copies have moved up 436% over the same 12 months.

Grading and population

PSA has graded 237 copies. 140 received a PSA 10 and 65 a PSA 9, a gem rate of 59.1%, which makes it one of the easier cards to grade a 10. A PSA 10 sells for 21.8× the ungraded price and 6.1× a PSA 9. That gap is big enough that grading a sharp, well-centred copy can pay for itself.

Investment potential

In its favour: steady demand, with ungraded prices up 52% in a year; an active market (73 recent completed sales), so it is easy to sell. Against it: a plentiful top grade, with 59.1% of graded copies already PSA 10. Treat this as background, not a prediction or financial advice.

Before you buy

Expect to pay around €32.52 for a clean ungraded copy; played copies sell for less, and a PSA 9 costs about €115.77. At this price fakes are worth checking for: compare the font, colours and holo pattern with a known genuine copy (see how to spot fake Pokémon cards) and look up the certificate of any graded copy (how to check a PSA cert number). Modern cards often leave the pack with print lines or surface scratches, so check the surface under a light (spotting surface scratches). Ask for clear photographs of both sides, verify the exact release and variant, and check for damage that may not appear in the listing title.
