Stormfront Booster Box

Stormfront Booster Box guide

What's inside the Stormfront Booster Box

Each Stormfront Booster Box is a factory-sealed display of 36 sealed booster packs, every one of them from Stormfront.

About Stormfront

Best known for its shiny secret rares, Charizard among them. Released on 1 November 2008, it belongs to the EX, Diamond & Pearl and HeartGold SoulSilver years, whose sealed product is now scarce. 18 years on, most of its sealed stock has long been opened, and unopened product mostly changes hands between collectors.

Stormfront has 100 cards in its main numbering, plus 6 secret rares numbered beyond it.

What collectors open Stormfront for

The Stormfront cards collectors most want to pull are Charizard. With 36 packs, a box gives you the most chances at them of any sealed product, though no box is guaranteed to hold any one card.

Our catalogue lists the set's rarest tiers as 8 LV.X, 11 Holo Rares and 23 Rares. See every Stormfront card price for what each is worth.

Stormfront Booster Box price today

Right now the cheapest Stormfront Booster Box on eBay costs €84,208 including delivery to Germany, and the typical asking price across 1 listing is €84,208 (ebay.com from €84,208).

Bear in mind these are asking prices rather than sold prices: sellers at the top of the range often accept offers or wait a long time to sell.

Price per pack

At the typical price, each of the 36 packs in a Stormfront Booster Box works out at €2,339, compared with €1,341 in a Stormfront Booster Pack. That makes it the most expensive way to buy Stormfront packs right now.

Stormfront Booster Box as an investment

After 18 years, sealed Stormfront booster boxes rarely come up, and prices tend to rise as boxes are opened and supply shrinks. Booster boxes are the sealed product most collectors hold long term, as they are easy to store and to value. Much of its sealed value rests on demand for Charizard: if those cards rise, unopened product usually follows.

None of this is financial advice: sealed prices can fall as well as rise. Our guide should you buy sealed Pokémon products? weighs up both sides.

Before you buy

Check the shrink wrap: factory wrap on booster boxes has neat seams, often with Pokémon logos printed on it, and loose or glossy wrap can mean a resealed product. At €84,208 it is worth asking for photos of every side and buying from sellers with a long, positive history, since resealed and weighed product is common. A full box gives better odds than loose packs, and its value as a sealed item is easier to judge (how to value a sealed booster box). For product this old, ask whether it has been checked by an authenticator: fakes and resealed vintage boxes are made to fool buyers. Compare the total with delivery, not just the price, and store sealed product flat, out of sunlight and away from damp.
