Evolving Skies Booster Box guide

What's inside the Evolving Skies Booster Box

Each Evolving Skies Booster Box is a factory-sealed display of 36 sealed booster packs, every one of them from Evolving Skies.

About Evolving Skies

Built around the Eevee evolutions and Dragon types, with some of the most valued modern alternate arts, above all Umbreon VMAX and Rayquaza VMAX. Released on 27 August 2021, it belongs to the Sword & Shield era, when the collecting boom pushed print runs to record levels. 5 years on, most of its sealed stock has long been opened, and unopened product mostly changes hands between collectors.

Evolving Skies has 203 cards in its main numbering, plus 34 secret rares numbered beyond it.

What collectors open Evolving Skies for

The Evolving Skies cards collectors most want to pull are Umbreon VMAX, Rayquaza VMAX, Sylveon VMAX and Espeon VMAX. With 36 packs, a box gives you the most chances at them of any sealed product, though no box is guaranteed to hold any one card.

Our catalogue lists the set's rarest tiers as 34 Secret Rares, 38 Ultra Rares and 15 VMAX. See every Evolving Skies card price for what each is worth.

Evolving Skies Booster Box price today

Right now the cheapest Evolving Skies Booster Box on eBay costs €1,936 including delivery to Germany, and the typical asking price across 81 listings is €2,670 (ebay.de from €2,150, ebay.co.uk from €2,722, ebay.com from €1,936).

Bear in mind these are asking prices rather than sold prices: sellers at the top of the range often accept offers or wait a long time to sell.

Price per pack

At the typical price, each of the 36 packs in an Evolving Skies Booster Box works out at €74.18, compared with €73.37 in an Evolving Skies Booster Pack and €77.49 in an Evolving Skies Elite Trainer Box. That makes it mid-priced among Evolving Skies sealed products.

Evolving Skies Booster Box as an investment

Older sealed product tends to rise as boxes are opened and supply shrinks, and Evolving Skies is now 5 years past release. Its price still depends on demand for its chase cards and on any reprints. Booster boxes are the sealed product most collectors hold long term, as they are easy to store and to value. Much of its sealed value rests on demand for Umbreon VMAX and Rayquaza VMAX: if those cards rise, unopened product usually follows.

None of this is financial advice: sealed prices can fall as well as rise. Our guide should you buy sealed Pokémon products? weighs up both sides.

Before you buy

Check the shrink wrap: factory wrap on booster boxes has neat seams, often with Pokémon logos printed on it, and loose or glossy wrap can mean a resealed product. At €2,670 it is worth asking for photos of every side and buying from sellers with a long, positive history, since resealed and weighed product is common. A full box gives better odds than loose packs, and its value as a sealed item is easier to judge (how to value a sealed booster box). Compare the total with delivery, not just the price, and store sealed product flat, out of sunlight and away from damp.
