Evolutions Booster Box guide

What's inside the Evolutions Booster Box

Each Evolutions Booster Box is a factory-sealed display of 36 sealed booster packs, every one of them from Evolutions.

About Evolutions

Reworked the original Base Set for the 20th anniversary with classic artwork and modern rules, which made it far more popular with collectors than players. Released on 2 November 2016, it belongs to the Black & White and XY era. 10 years on, most of its sealed stock has long been opened, and unopened product mostly changes hands between collectors.

Evolutions has 108 cards in its main numbering, plus 5 secret rares numbered beyond it.

What collectors open Evolutions for

The Evolutions cards collectors most want to pull are Charizard, Charizard-EX and M Charizard-EX. With 36 packs, a box gives you the most chances at them of any sealed product, though no box is guaranteed to hold any one card.

Our catalogue lists the set's rarest tiers as 5 Secret Rares, 25 Ultra Rares and 22 Rares. See every Evolutions card price for what each is worth.

Evolutions Booster Box price today

Right now the cheapest Evolutions Booster Box on eBay costs €3,029 including delivery to Germany, and the typical asking price across 4 listings is €3,215 (ebay.de from €3,029, ebay.co.uk from €4,175, ebay.com from €3,205).

Asking prices are what sellers hope to get, not what booster boxes actually sell for, so treat the cheapest listing as the benchmark for a fair deal.

Price per pack

At the typical price, each of the 36 packs in an Evolutions Booster Box works out at €89.31, compared with €86.81 in an Evolutions Booster Pack and €232.90 in an Evolutions Elite Trainer Box. That makes it mid-priced among Evolutions sealed products.

Evolutions Booster Box as an investment

After 10 years, sealed Evolutions booster boxes rarely come up, and prices tend to rise as boxes are opened and supply shrinks. Booster boxes are the sealed product most collectors hold long term, as they are easy to store and to value. Much of its sealed value rests on demand for Charizard and Charizard-EX: if those cards rise, unopened product usually follows.

Past prices do not guarantee future ones, and this is not financial advice. Read should you buy sealed Pokémon products? for the pros and cons.

Before you buy

Check the shrink wrap: factory wrap on booster boxes has neat seams, often with Pokémon logos printed on it, and loose or glossy wrap can mean a resealed product. At €3,215 it is worth asking for photos of every side and buying from sellers with a long, positive history, since resealed and weighed product is common. A full box gives better odds than loose packs, and its value as a sealed item is easier to judge (how to value a sealed booster box). Check whether delivery from ebay.de adds import fees, and store sealed product flat, out of sunlight and away from damp.
