Emerging Powers Booster Box guide

What's inside the Emerging Powers Booster Box

A sealed Emerging Powers Booster Box holds 36 sealed booster packs from Emerging Powers, the full display a shop would open to sell packs one by one.

About Emerging Powers

The second Black & White set, adding the forces of nature Tornadus and Thundurus. Released on 31 August 2011, it belongs to the Black & White and XY era. It came out 15 years ago, so most sealed stock has been opened and what is left sits with collectors.

Emerging Powers has 98 cards in its main numbering.

Chase cards to look for

The Emerging Powers cards collectors most want to pull are Tornadus and Thundurus. With 36 packs, a box gives you the most chances at them of any sealed product, though no box is guaranteed to hold any one card.

Our catalogue lists the set's rarest tiers as 2 Ultra Rares and 31 Rares. Prices for every card are on the Emerging Powers set page.

Is the Emerging Powers Booster Box a good investment?

After 15 years, sealed Emerging Powers booster boxes rarely come up, and prices tend to rise as boxes are opened and supply shrinks. Booster boxes are the sealed product most collectors hold long term, as they are easy to store and to value. Watch the price of Tornadus, the set's headline card, since sealed Emerging Powers tends to move with it.

Only buy an Emerging Powers Booster Box to hold if you are happy to keep it either way, as prices can fall too. This is not financial advice; see should you buy sealed Pokémon products?

Before you buy

Look closely at the wrapping in the photos. Factory wrap on booster boxes has neat seams, often with Pokémon logos printed on it; baggy, shiny or uneven wrap is a common sign of a reseal. For an Emerging Powers Booster Box at around €47,822, ask the seller for photos of all sides and stick to accounts with plenty of positive feedback. A full box gives better odds than loose packs, and its value as a sealed item is easier to judge (how to value a sealed booster box). Always compare totals with delivery included, and keep sealed product away from sunlight, heat and damp once it arrives.
