Cosmic Eclipse Booster Box guide

What's inside the Cosmic Eclipse Booster Box

Each Cosmic Eclipse Booster Box is a factory-sealed display of 36 sealed booster packs, every one of them from Cosmic Eclipse.

About Cosmic Eclipse

The last Sun & Moon set, with triple TAG TEAM cards and Character Rares. Released on 1 November 2019, it belongs to the Sun & Moon era. 7 years on, most of its sealed stock has long been opened, and unopened product mostly changes hands between collectors.

Cosmic Eclipse has 236 cards in its main numbering, plus 35 secret rares numbered beyond it.

Chase cards to look for

The Cosmic Eclipse cards collectors most want to pull are Arceus & Dialga & Palkia-GX. With 36 packs, a box gives you the most chances at them of any sealed product, though no box is guaranteed to hold any one card.

Our catalogue lists the set's rarest tiers as 35 Secret Rares, 43 Ultra Rares and 60 Rares. See every Cosmic Eclipse card price for what each is worth.

Cosmic Eclipse Booster Box price today

Right now the cheapest Cosmic Eclipse Booster Box on eBay costs €4,084 including delivery to Germany, and the typical asking price across 14 listings is €4,897 (ebay.co.uk from €4,084, ebay.com from €4,451).

Asking prices are what sellers hope to get, not what booster boxes actually sell for, so treat the cheapest listing as the benchmark for a fair deal.

Price per pack

At the typical price, each of the 36 packs in a Cosmic Eclipse Booster Box works out at €136.03, compared with €107.34 in a Cosmic Eclipse Booster Pack and €222.54 in a Cosmic Eclipse Elite Trainer Box. That makes it mid-priced among Cosmic Eclipse sealed products.

Cosmic Eclipse Booster Box as an investment

Older sealed product tends to rise as boxes are opened and supply shrinks, and Cosmic Eclipse is now 7 years past release. Its price still depends on demand for its chase cards and on any reprints. Booster boxes are the sealed product most collectors hold long term, as they are easy to store and to value. Much of its sealed value rests on demand for Arceus & Dialga & Palkia-GX: if those cards rise, unopened product usually follows.

Past prices do not guarantee future ones, and this is not financial advice. Read should you buy sealed Pokémon products? for the pros and cons.

Before you buy

Check the shrink wrap: factory wrap on booster boxes has neat seams, often with Pokémon logos printed on it, and loose or glossy wrap can mean a resealed product. At €4,897 it is worth asking for photos of every side and buying from sellers with a long, positive history, since resealed and weighed product is common. A full box gives better odds than loose packs, and its value as a sealed item is easier to judge (how to value a sealed booster box). Check whether delivery from ebay.co.uk adds import fees, and store sealed product flat, out of sunlight and away from damp.
