Arceus Booster Box guide

What's inside the Arceus Booster Box

A sealed Arceus Booster Box holds 36 sealed booster packs from Arceus, the full display a shop would open to sell packs one by one.

About Arceus

Built around Arceus, which appears in a form for nearly every type, plus Arceus LV.X. Released on 4 November 2009, it belongs to the EX, Diamond & Pearl and HeartGold SoulSilver years, whose sealed product is now scarce. It came out 17 years ago, so most sealed stock has been opened and what is left sits with collectors.

Arceus has 99 cards in its main numbering, plus 12 secret rares numbered beyond it.

Chase cards to look for

The Arceus cards collectors most want to pull are Arceus LV.X. With 36 packs, a box gives you the most chances at them of any sealed product, though no box is guaranteed to hold any one card.

Our catalogue lists the set's rarest tiers as 6 LV.X, 12 Holo Rares and 32 Rares. Prices for every card are on the Arceus set page.

Arceus Booster Box price today

There are 4 matching listings on eBay at the moment (ebay.de from €109.65, ebay.com from €70.44). The lowest total with delivery to Germany is €70.44, against a typical asking price of €97.27.

Asking prices are what sellers hope to get, not what booster boxes actually sell for, so treat the cheapest listing as the benchmark for a fair deal.

Price per pack

At the typical price, each of the 36 packs in an Arceus Booster Box works out at €2.70, compared with €1,119 in an Arceus Booster Pack. That makes it the cheapest way to buy Arceus packs sealed right now.

Is the Arceus Booster Box a good investment?

After 17 years, sealed Arceus booster boxes rarely come up, and prices tend to rise as boxes are opened and supply shrinks. Booster boxes are the sealed product most collectors hold long term, as they are easy to store and to value. Watch the price of Arceus LV.X, the set's headline card, since sealed Arceus tends to move with it.

Past prices do not guarantee future ones, and this is not financial advice. Read should you buy sealed Pokémon products? for the pros and cons.

Before you buy

Look closely at the wrapping in the photos. Factory wrap on booster boxes has neat seams, often with Pokémon logos printed on it; baggy, shiny or uneven wrap is a common sign of a reseal. A full box gives better odds than loose packs, and its value as a sealed item is easier to judge (how to value a sealed booster box). For product this old, ask whether it has been checked by an authenticator: fakes and resealed vintage boxes are made to fool buyers. Check whether delivery from ebay.com adds import fees, and store sealed product flat, out of sunlight and away from damp.
